A Leap into Freedom

»Most of my contem- poraries end up in the sausage counter where people buy meat. I'd heard about the tor- tures at the slaughter- house and I resolved that I was not going to suffer this fate. I took my life in hand - and jumped, from the trailer that was supposed to bring me and my friends to the slaughterhouse, and into freedom. I first landed on Bleicher Street in Kempten. Since the daily newspaper reported my brave leap (it took quite some skill), animal friends heard about me and contacted the International Gabriele Foundation and the Land of Peace. My freedom was purchased and along with me, that of my mother Lena. Later my brother Nuka was also rescued.

And lastly, the best thing of all: My leap not only saved the lives of us three, but also my two daughters, Isna and Ira, who were born a few days ago. I was already carrying them in my belly. If I had not leapt, they would have been killed along with me and cut into pieces ...

Do you also want to help make such rescues possible?
