Deer Offspring on the Land of Peace
Deer are naturally very shy and run away as soon as a person approaches. But anyone who gets to know Silia may experience something else.
Silia lives in freedom and became a mother for the first time this year. However, she did not bring her children into the world like other deer, hidden somewhere in a meadow, but very near people on the Land of Peace.
Of course, Silia is not just any deer. As orphaned and injured fawn, she had experi- enced the love and care of people and therefore knows that there are people that can be trusted. That Silia sought out the deer home on the Land of Peace to give birth surprised even animal keeper Daniel.
Three years before this, he had raised Silia in the animal infirmary and accompanied her on her way into freedom. »That Silia has returned to the deer home to give birth to her children here was a big surprise for us – and of course, a great joy! It shows how great her trust is. And it also shows that Silia is very intelligent and wise, because where is there a better place for a young deer mother than the deer home where their protection and food are certain...« Deer Foundlings Find Protection in the Infirmary
But it was not only with Silia that deer offspring arrived. Deer found- lings were also taken into the infirmary again. Important is: Whoever discovers a baby fawn should not touch it or simply take it along.
The deer mother leaves the fawns alone for their protection and comes frequently for a short time to care for them. So fawns should be taken along only when they are injured or are left alone for a long time. Bene, a little buck came first to the infirmary and happily did not have to stay along for very long.
Meanwhile, the infirm- ary has become a real kindergarten for fawns, with round-the-clock care, because little fawns have to be bottle-fed and cared for every 3 to 4 hours. They are very loving to each other and Bene is the big brother behind whom the smaller fawns already run about.
When the fawns get bigger, they – just like Silia once did – move into the deer home, to learn to live an independent life in freedom. These fawns may also start out life experiencing that there are people who mean well with animals.
"Even $1.00 Helps"It is possible for us to give animals a home on the Land of Peace and to create new habitats for animals solely through the support of animal-loving people. All gifts from the heart that animal friends from all over the world bring together are used directly for the benefit of the animals. Do you also want to help? "Even $1.00 Helps!"
