The Four-legged Foundling Mosene

A four-legged foundling has arrived at the Land of Peace. Mosene is a little fawn. She was 2-3 days old at the most when she was found by hikers on a bicycle path.

The hikers knew that one can't simply take along a fawn, because the mother is often nearby and looks after it as soon as the people are gone. So they  covered the little fawn with twigs and  branches for protection, so that nothing would happen to her there in the middle of the path – and then they waited.

Evening came and there was still no mother in sight, so the animal friends called the police and – according to regu- lations – also a hunter. The hunter suggested the fawn be killed – unless the hikers would take on the animal. And they did that.

Since it is very difficult to bring a fawn through in one's own house, they turned to the International Gabriele Foundation and took the little fawn to the Land of Peace. Mosene was very weak, had subnormal temperature and hardly drank anything.

But thanks to a hot-water bottle, infu- sions and the efforts of the caregivers to give the little animal a bit of milk every 2-3 hours,  she survived.

Today Mosene is over the worst. She is gaining weight, loves drinking her bottle and is already eating a bit of soil. She is a happy, little fawn and is gradually gaining trust in her two-legged friends. We are looking for a second fawn foundling to keep Mosene company.

A Little Flock of Merino Sheep

Another new arrival on the Land of Peace for rescued animals is a small flock of Merino sheep. Their owner was a years-long hobby animal keeper, who used the sheep to keep the grass on his property short and had one slaughtered every now and then.

And this was exactly what one day he no longer had the heart to do: "I know that the animals have a soul ..." He wanted the animals to stay alive and he brought them to the Land of Peace. The six grown animals and the little Merino lamb have adapted well and are eagerly awaiting godparents ...

Help with an animal sponsorship! Many thanks!

12 Little Hedgehogs Saved!

And finally, 12 little hedgehogs have resettled in the connective biotope system on the Land of Peace. They lived very near an airport that is now being expanded.

When the bulldozers arrived, several animal friends went daunt- lessly to work and gathered up the fright- ened animals. By round- about ways, they found their way to the Land of Peace, where they are now romping around in the many hedges and wooded areas and enjoying their new freedom on a safe piece of land.
