Silia Helps Develop a Home for Deer
Silia helps develop a home for deer. An animal keeper reports: »When three fawns were brought to the Land of Peace in autumn, we were able to experience how animals communicate with each other and also want to help us animal keepers. Like all the fawns that should one day be released into freedom, they went to the "Home for Deer." The fawn Alene and Alano already lived there and very nearby lives Silia, the very first fawn.
She came to the Land of Peace as an injured orphan and grew up here. Since the three new fawns did not yet know the area and I was strange to them as an animal keeper, they imme- diately ran away when I came to feed them.
And Alene und Alano, who had al- ready been living on the Land of Peace for several months, also frightened, simply ran away with them. It seemed like they had agreed: "When a two-legged creature comes, we deer run away." Of course, that was really too bad. For our wish is to show animals that there are also people whom they can trust.
That they learn that the people on the Land of Peace are their friends. I didn't know what to do and told my worries to Silia who lives in the upper area of the home for deer. I told her that the little deer kept running away from me, and that it would be nice if they would learn to trust me.
Several days later when I came again to feed them, I heard a slight squeaking in the woods. I followed the sound and came to the pasture fence for the Saler cattle, which separates Silia's area from the young deer. There I saw Silia who ran along the fence totally upset.
I asked her if something or other wasn't in order and climbed over the fence to see if I could help her. But she was unharmed and in good shape. When I said goodbye to Silia to go to the lower area of the home for deer again, she purposely followed me and did not leave my side until we had gone the long way through the woods to the area where the fawns were.
Only now did I realize that it wasn't Silia who needed help, but me. Apparently she had exactly sensed that. While I took food to the fawns and filled their water basins, she stayed at my side the whole time – as if she wanted to tell the new ones that they didn't need to be afraid of me.
And that's what she did for several days. Today it's this way: When I go to feed, Silia leaps toward me joyfully and the "new ones" come a bit closer each time. ...« "Even $1.00 Helps!"It is possible for us to give animals a home on the Land of Peace and to create new habitats for animals solely through the support of animal-loving people. All gifts from the heart that animal friends from all over the world bring together are used directly for the benefit of the animals. Do you also want to help? "Even $1.00 Helps!"
