Two Little "Sprinter Babies" in the Infirmary
Some days ago, a little baby girl wild pig was handed over to the nearby animal home in Würzburg. Since this home had no possibility to release wild animals into the wild someday, they asked the infirmary on the Land of Peace of the International Gabriele Foundation if they could have a place there. And so, the little "sprinter baby," as wild pig babies are called on the Land of Peace, moved into an area of the infirmary. No animal likes to be alone – but what to do? Through a fortunate circumstance, another little sprinter arrived, and it has a very special story:
A hunter had shot a sow, a wild-pig mother. The little wild pig babies ran into the woods in all directions – only one was left by its dead mother. The hunter took it along to the village butcher, so that he could feed it until – when it became big enough – to then turn it into a suckling pig. But the butcher's neighbors were animal lovers. When they saw the little animal and learned what was supposed to happen to it, they took it home.
The little wild pig, the animal friends called it "Swiney," lived with this family for about 3 weeks, along with 4 dogs, 6 cats and still other animals. They soon became very fond of Swiney. They knew what he liked to eat best; they understood how to interpret his sounds, and often Swiney sat on someone's lap when they were all together in the living room in the evening. But it was clear to all of them that such a little wild animal is not a house pet, and so they looked for a place where the little one would be well taken care of. So, the little wild pig boy finally came to the Land of Peace of the International Gabriele Foundation.
And there was great joy on all sides. Despite the pain of saying goodbye, the family was happy that their little friend was in good hands; Swiney rejoices about his new home among other animals of his kind – and the little sprinter girl, who already lived in the infirmary, was happy to finally have a playmate. When the two wild-pig children are bigger, they can move on to the reintroduction area on the Land of Peace, where they can smell the fresh woods air and freedom, until one day they completely join their free-living fellow species. Join Us and Help!It is possible for us to give animals a home on the Land of Peace and to create new habitats for animals solely through the support of animal-loving people. All gifts from the heart that animal friends from all over the world bring together are used directly for the benefit of the animals. Do you also want to help? "Even $1.00 Helps!".
