“You Shall Not Kill!”

Those attending a meeting in the International Gathering Place of All Cultures Worldwide in the Tent of God received profound explanations on the Ten Commandments from the Spirit of God. We pass on here excerpts of the explanations on the commandment “You shall not kill.”

»God, the Eternal, gave life to all His creatures. Anyone who condones killing, no matter in what form and with what justification, is against the life, and the life is God. All pure forms of being developed from God, the Eternal. His breath vivifies all pure forms, all life, for He is the life, the breath in all things. Anyone who takes away a creature’s breath turns against the giver of life, the Creator-God, the Eternal Spirit, who is the everlasting eternal power of Being in all life.

For us human beings, life means to breathe. Who can give us breath? What breath vivifies the child that is mutilated, killed, in war? Who breathed life into the small body that is torn apart in a hail of bombs? Who gave breath to the animal that is killed in the woods? Which breath lives in the animal that, filled with fear, faces its slaughter, that suffers under torture as a laboratory animal and is killed? No human being can give life, and so, we may not take it either, that is, we may not kill.

To willfully kill is murder. When we kill a living being willfully, that is, intentionally, we are against life, meaning, against God. Anyone who presumes, for his own purpose, to derive a right to kill places himself against the commandment that God gave us through Moses: “You shall not kill.”

Can a government, can the churches, who bless weapons and condone killing under certain circumstances, who pray for the victory of the one over the other, can they give life back again?

In the state of this world, we can see the magnitude of the rejection of this commandment. What would this world, this earth, a beautiful dwelling planet, be like if this one commandment “You shall not kill” had been consistently fulfilled? This commandment has stood before us, admonishing human beings for over 3000 years. Where do the mighty stand, where do the nations stand, where do the governments stand, where do the churches stand, above all, those who call themselves “Christian,” in relation to this commandment? Do they fulfill this one fundamental commandment? Where does every single one of us stand in relation to it?

Jesus, the Christ, lived the fulfillment of this commandment. And He taught Peter the spiritual principle: “Put back your sword, for the one who takes up the sword will perish by the sword.”

But what is it like in our world? Everywhere in this world, killing, slaughtering, murdering and warring are taking their course. Sowing and reaping – reaping, and again sowing, guilt – suffering – revenge: a disastrous cycle over which the church institutions have draped the guise of the “mysteries of God.” The commandments of God, spoken through Moses, speak another language – clearly and unequivocally: “You shall not kill.”

God, the Eternal, is the life. He is the Father of all His children. He loves us all equally, without consideration of our nationality, our religion, our race. Even so-called Christianity has been praying for nearly 2000 years the Lord’s Prayer, which Jesus, the Christ, taught. The word “our” contains the unity of Creation. If we take this “our” seriously, in every stirring that builds up against our brother, our sister, the admonishing call should resound: “Cain, where is your brother Abel?”

In the eternal Being there is no death. There is no killing. From the eternal Being, God, the Eternal, spoke through the prophet Moses: “You shall not kill.” This also means for us: Harbor no murderous thoughts, reconcile with your neighbor. Keep peace. Care for the life, for God is the life in every life form.«
