Unique Diversity of Species on the Land of Peace

The Land of Peace has become a refuge for animals. Each visitor can see that the number of animals is constantly growing, and can rejoice in the many birds, deer, field hares, butterflies and all kinds of other animals. In 2010, the International Gabriele Foundation commissioned detailed population surveys for several species – birds, butterflies and bats – in order to have the extraordinary diversity of species confirmed by independent experts. The results are now available and are outstanding for all three surveys.

This also proves that the making amends to nature and animals, which the Spirit of God introduced in this time through His prophetess and emissary Gabriele, is becoming more and more visible.

You can find excerpts from these expert reports on this page.

Birds

“The survey of the bird population revealed an enormous diversity of species:

A total of 88 bird species were registered in the area surveyed, including its peripheries. 69 of them can be counted as breeding birds, 11 as guests seeking food and 8 exclusively as migratory. 21 of the determined breeding bird species are on the Red List for Bavaria.

Critically endangered: wryneck

Endangered: tree pipit, field larch, redstart, gray-headed woodpecker, partridge and wagtail

Vulnerable: tree sparrow, yellowhammer, green woodpecker, stock dove, lesser whitethroat, cuckoo, middle spotted woodpecker, oriole, European swallow, black woodpecker, turtle dove, quail and long-eared owl

In addition, according to the German Federal Nature Protection Law, 9 of the breeding bird species are classified as strictly protected.”

Prof. Dr. Peter Berthold, leading ornithologist and leader emeritus of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, wrote in his evaluation, among other things:

"Considering the diversity of species and the number of individuals, the bird world on the Farm Terra Nova is unique in Germany at least and probably even in Central Europe.

In order, on an area of just about 300 hectares, to encounter 10 breeding pairs of tree pipits, 6 pairs of linnets, 27 (!) pairs of white throat warblers, 55 of field larks and 116 of tree sparrows, 95 pairs of yellowhammers, 7 pairs of lesser whitethroat warblers, 9 pairs of red-backed shrikes, and in addition – even though in lesser numbers – brooding willow warblers, red starts, gray woodpeckers, stock doves, orioles, partridges,  wagtails, turtle doves and wrynecks, one has to travel a long ways. (...)

The reasons for this are the ecologically oriented landscape and the large number of highest-quality field hedges, both with optimal food supplies. This unique bird paradise must, of course, be preserved; above all, because it is probably irreplaceable. If one were to begin today to create the corresponding ecological conditions, it is highly questionable whether the regeneration capability of the surrounding area would be sufficient to again build up such a bird population.”

Butterflies

Jochen Walz, Geographer, freelance ecologist, butterfly expert wrote in his  butterfly report:

"With a total of 49 butterfly species, of which 21 species are on the Bavarian Red List, and a total of 30 species that should be described as valuable, the absolute number of butterfly species as well as the number of endangered and especially protected species should be classified very high."

“In the long run, the nearly natural, ecological agriculture ensures a continuation of the above described abundance of species also on larger areas and even lets us expect an increase in species and individuals. (...)

Thus, the area is of great scientific value, since this process should definitely be documented and the area could be a model for further projects of renaturation and extensivation (the opposite of intensivation). A corresponding richly structured and extensively managed field-meadow-landscape of about 140 hectares is very difficult to find in Bavaria as well as in Germany, as is a corresponding abundance of endangered species in corresponding agriculture landscapes, which normally can be found only in nature conservation areas.”

Bats

The bat population survey on the Land of Peace resulted in the ascertainment of a total of 9 species:

  • Common noctule bat
  • Bechstein's bat
  • Serotine bat
  • Whiskered bat
  • Lesser noctule bat
  • Barbastelle bat
  • Pipistrelle bat
  • Max Jakobus, biologist, described, among other things, in his evaluation:

“According to the Federal Nature Conservation Act, all bat species belong to the specially or strictly protected species. Through this, the access and disturbance prohibitions as well as those of possession and marketing apply. Three of the species ascertained in the area surveyed are species that are listed in Appendix II of the FFH (Flora, Fauna, Habitat) Guideline: Bechstein's bat, mouse-eared bat and barbastelle bat. These species belong to the European Protected Species, for whose preservation special protected areas must be established. With its multi-layered habitats, the area surveyed represents an ideal habitat for bats.”
